bom dia slavador

ola minha quiridos!!
hello every one of you lovelies, sorry i havent blogged for a while. im not entirely sure what megs last one said, but it probably told you that we`re now in the fabulous city of Salvador. we arrived yesterday at half 5 in the morning ugh! its mad here, quite different from everywhere else we1ve been, very very African nearly every one is black. the northan Brazilian coast is where most of the slave trade came to,so their descendants are all still here. there are drum/percussion shops everywhere(i got very exciting by them, found a little drum made out of a coconut!),beads, hair wrap stalls, women wearing huge crazy white dresses and loads of make up waiting outside restaurants to invite you in!

the nega maluca hostel is really nice, they have a lovely fat cat and dog which is so goood, made us both feel very at home=) there are lots of funky people here as well wich we`ve been really looking forward to,as its just been us two for a while, which is loovely too,but refreshing to meet new`ens. it was actually quite emotional leaving the last place,in Ilheus, they had all been so lovely, giving is some proper brazilian mothering! and the two gorgeous boys, they gave us a beautiful rubber tree seed each that they`ed found, when we went.

right now we have the best and hardest descision to make in the world......right now we are in salvador but are going to leave for a bit, then return for carnival. our choices are do we find a woof and live on a fruit and cacao farm,go beach hopping around some little white sanded palm treed islands,or...go to this hippy valley that we`ve found out about, where there is pretty much the cheapest circus school in the world, and loads of shared houses......hmmmmm

yay! ive just had a chat with my lovely mum! made me very happy =D nut meg is just sitting next to me talking to her lovely mum now. Ben,tried to phone you too just incase...but thought propbably not as its sunday morning! and pops, tried to phone you too but it was engaiged, but ill try and call you before too long=D

much love and brazilian sunrays xxxxxxxxlove ash

  1. Uau! Salvador! I am so jelous!
It is nice to see you all well again, and have been in contact with your family and friends.
The white women are 'baianas' they are very traditional and their food are very famous, anything they do will be with care and love. They are important part of the carnaval tradition.
I think the three options sound great. If the beach you talked about is Fernando de Noronha, definitly you should go there. Otherwise I would go to work in the fruit farm or to the circus school. You girls have seen some of the most beautful beach in Brazil already, you should try something different.
Nega Maluca is also the name of a delicious cake, you must try it. And also try caju juice or even the fruit, I love it the juice.
    Take care.
    Lots of love.

  2. Hey girls, it's snowing here! Bet that's hard to imagine from there. If I was there I would go to the hippy valley and do the super cheap circus training, you could meet some great people. But I'm not you... Wwoofing and beach hopping sound great too. It was wonderful to speak with you yesterday Ash, and lovely to think of Meg talking with Ann too, we mothers need it! Gave me a warm glow which hasn't left me even today in the snow. Lovely to hear everything, your descriptions and experiences, keep it up. So much love to you both, Bee xx
